This past Sunday marked a few very special occasions. First, it was Mother’s Day and here at TriBy3 we’re all about giving respect to the Mothers! Second, it was the first official race for The TriBy3-Snapple Team; we rocked it!

The Mother’s Day Duathlon is part of a series of duathlons in Prospect Park, Brooklyn put on by City Tri Sports (the same group that put on last week’s Bassman event). There are a variety of distances to choose from, and most of our athletes raced the ‘Classic Distance’ consisting of a 5k Run, 14 Mile Bike, and a 5k Run. The team fielded 11 athletes–including our entire elite team– and each member of the squad got on the podium for overall or Age Group Awards. TB3-Snapple swept the Overall Men’s Podium with teammates Greg Close, Erik Reitinger, Jonathan Blyer and David Hollely finishing 1st-4th, respectively. Rahmin Pavlovic and friend-of-the-program James Cunningham finished 11th and 12th; Justin Wender took 2nd in the Men’s 40-44 race. On the women’s side, TB3-Snapple Elite Darbi Roberts took the top spot on the podium, with Laura Barbieri finishing 5th, Demetra Arapakos finishing 6th and Anna Daugherty rounding out the top-10 in 8th place. In the ‘Sprint Distance’, AJ Rathmann-Noonan finished her first-ever multisport event in 12th place Overall–doing so just 2 months after taking her first step as a runner!

We asked each member of the team how they felt about their race, and about their 2013 season. Read their responses below:
